Dream Scene

There's a scene in my mind

under skies that are kind,

whaur a' looks sae peaceful and fair.

Hamely an' bonny as ever I'll find,

An' I wish - hoo I wish I wis there.

Sich an' awfu' nice cot,

this dream place has got,

wi' ramblin' red roses, a wheen;

(Micht as weel add flooerin' shrub in a pot,

fur I ken the hale thing is a dream).

Ilka day roon' the door,

Cheefu' neighbours galore,

an' friend's drappin in fur a chat.

Completin' the pictur' are books fu' o' lore -

near the fire sits a a dinky wee cat.

Yes, we'll hae it yin day,

Is whit we a's say'

visuallisin' this pictur' sae rare.

Auld echo repeats, as we trauchle oor way:

“oh I wish – hoo I wish I wis there.”
