Roon’ the wireless yin morn’,
Sat auld Wullie McSporn -
An’ Maggie, the news fur tae hear.
When crisp through the air,
tae this auld-farrant pair,
cam’ voice o’ announcer sae clear.
“Through Gulf Stream and Med’”,
he urbanely said,
“Depression is circling, I mean
Over Iceland, with force,
Most districts of course -
Will be misty, with showers between.”
Wull gied radio glower;
Even Maggie looked sour,
Baith spak wi’ resentment an’ pain.
