Sich charmin' names

D’ye ever wonder sometimes, whae

Gied flooers names sae sweet?

A’m thinkin’ noo on Rosemary,

Foxglove an’ Marguerite.

Whit happy choice alichted on

yon petals that unfold -

Tae flaunt the saffron pure, upon

a lovely Marigold?

There’s Honeysuckle, Poppy, Thyme,

Marsh Mallow, Ladies’ Smock,

An’ ithers, likes o’ Celandine,

Wee Eyebricht tae, an’ Stock.

Sae aptly named; Lobelia blue,

Heartsease, Wild Fritillaries,

Whae thoucht them up?  A’m askin’ you.

Masel’? I think the Fairies.
